Pre-owned. Comes with orig. boxes & undated paper. This is a very rare 38mm Pasha de Cartier Grid made for the 150th Anniversary of Cartier & only 1847 numbered pieces were produced.

1997 was the 150th anniversary of Cartier & it was celebrated with the creation of a grand catalogue Les "Collection Privées de Cartier" featuring many extraordinary objects, all produced in limited numbers of 3, 150, 1847 or piece unique. 3 represents the trinity ring and the legendary Cartier shops in Paris, London & New York. 150 for the founding years & 1847 the year of establishment. Among them was a collection of watches that featured the "anniversary crest", a web of inter-linked almond shaped curves and fitted with bordeaux coloured leather straps and garnished with red cabochon, representing Cartier's symbolic red.

These limited edition items were only sold through selected Cartier boutiques at full retail and & they were very well received by Cartier admirers. Some popular items like this watch was almost immediately re-sold in the open market for a premium over retail as there were only two automatic watches in the entire collection, a 33mm Santos Round GMT in halfgold and this 38mm Pasha which was the favourite.

This example for sale with us here has the trademark grille that protects the watch facade inspired by WWI Trench watches. It has a red spinel cabochon set into the crown cap while the dial has an engraved plate of the anniversary crest & a French red bordeaux alligator leather strap fitted. Watch is no 0138 of 1847, a very auspicious no indeed.

We sold a few of these for slightly above S$10K when they were new back in the late 1990s so the current price represents a good bargain for a rare limited edition. This watch has been lightly polished to factory specs and is good as new now while the original strap is in excellent condition and sold with a one year warranty from us.

A highly collectible timepiece representing Cartier's illustrious history which is surprisingly very affordable. We happen to own an original copy of the highly coveted 150 Anniversary catalogue (17yrs old now) that features this watch in hand-painted coloured plate and a copy of the page will be given to the new owner.
