This former Architects of Time was the watch brand to own back in the 1980s-90s. Their superfluous designs captured the audience for a generation and the hexagonal case remains an icon to this date. The Sport classic was created in 1977 and this chronograph in 1982 followed by the Perpetual Calendar in 1983. The Beluga was created in 1985 and 1911 the following year.

Our Ebel here has been taken apart by our workshop for a full cleaning and the movement overhauled. This is a value of S$800 added to this watch. It is not waterproof and offers light water resistance due to age and gaskets but the Zenith movement is all done up to specs and working in perfect order. The case was polished some time ago and we left it as it is since this is presenting very well now without any serious dents nor scratches. The original strap in shark skin is very durable and will serve you well.

This is the sought after chronograph in a steel case with a clean white dial, triple registers, tachymetre scale and a date. It is fitted with the desirable El Primero high-beat movement by Zenith which also powered the Rolex Daytona during the same period.

We're delighted to have acquired this watch recently and as you can see how well it has preserved. The condition is simply excellent and although polished, the profile is correct and the original shark skin leather strap, a popular variant in the 1990s for water resistance has remained in very good condition after more than two decades. This watch has all the makings of a classic timepiece with a rich history and pedigree parts so will no doubt serve you very well for many decades to come as long as you take good care of it.

Ebel was founded in 1911 and based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Their founders Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy gave their company a name symbolizing the mingling of their personalities: Ebel - the acronym of «Eugène Blum Et Lévy». Many watch companies were named after their partnership or children but we cannot think of any other companies that were founded by a couple as females in the watch industry and in the early twentieth century were extremely rare and even today, there are hardly any female founder watch brands out there but here it is, Ebel. Founded by a couple.

Ebel was acquired by the Movado Group in 2004 and remains active.
