This is a barn find and comes with it's original box, matching numbered tag and a hefty price tag for USD325.00. The tag also indicates the 37 diamonds on this watch which is important as this affirms the diamonds are original set on the dial.

This is an interesting Post-War watch with historical evidence between Jaeger LeCoultre and Vacheron & Constantin. The movement has the US import code VXN for the Swiss manufacturer which belongs to Vacheron & Constantin when they were the agent for LeCoultre watches in North America under Vacheron-LeCoultre. The case is further double-signed with both companies names while the dial is signed Le Coultre.

The Galaxy mystery watch was the only collaboration in which both the names Vacheron Constantin and LeCoultre appeared together on a product. In addition, this creation was for the U.S. market, as seen on the inside caseback: “CASED AND TIMED IN U.S.A. BY LECOULTRE.” This notion is further reinforced by the fact that the case was made in 14k white gold, which was often used for the U.S. market (as opposed to in 18k gold which was more common in Europe).

The mystery dial still remains a fascinating dial design that was utilized by both Jaeger and LeCoultre, as well as by Cartier, as seen in its much celebrated mystery table clocks. There were several variations of these diamond-set “Galaxy” models produced.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre brand name was only adopted for global sales from 1985 onwards.

The 14ct white gold case appears to be in original and unpolished condition with just micro hairlines, handling wear and no dents nor deep scratches throughout. Clearly a cherished watch that's seldom worn over the past decades. The movement shines brightly & diamonds glitter on the dial. It takes about 17 winds on the crown to full power reserve and keeps reasonable timing but this watch is not shockproof protected so please don't drop it like any other watches. The watch is presented in very good condition and can be a daily timekeeper.

Remember, not every JLC watch is signed with VC partnership and this is one of them. In fact, the only model. A fascinating piece of Swiss watch making history with American tale.
