18ct yellow gold is the noblest alloy and the most expensive model as there was no platinum option for Rolex Oyster perpetual bubbleback models prior to 1960s. The weight of this watch is immediately felt when compared to a 9ct equivalent.

This Ref.5011 is a very good looking Rolex Oyster Bubbleback in solid 18KYG dating to 1950 and a late production watch. It is a two piece case model with an engine turned bezel. Watch appears to be unpolished as evidenced by the crisp coin-edge bezel and case has general surface wear throughout with some patina.

The Helvetia 18K hallmark is clearly visible under the lower-right lug & stamped again inside the back cover. The movement remains in sparkling condition which is an eye candy after 70yrs. All other numbers plus stamping marks are visible & the details of the engine turned bezel remains clearly visible which shows that this watch was not abused.

The silvered dial is a professional restoration of the highest order and shows a vowel sign on the e of chronomètre. Some inexperienced dealers will mistake this as a mint condition. In this age, a quality refinished dial of this quality is well accepted as most bubble dials are very worn out by now.

These vintage Rolexes can be worn as daily watches as long as you adhere to 2 simple care.

1) They're not waterproof, don't let moisture enter them so be careful when you wash hands & keep away from rain but you'd be using an umbrella.

2) Don't drop them like you shouldn't on any watches
