Rare is an often used word and this particular IWC dating back to 1941 from the early part of WW2 certainly deserves it. The large 35mm solid gold case (lug to lug is a 48mm) was huge for it's time as most watches were 30mm and it has a pair of unique flexible lugs that further extends it's size to wrap around your wrist. This attractive design was very popular in the late 1930s to early 40s but few survived the war and today, vintage watches with such case design are sought after collector's items.

It is presented with the original two-tone luxurious dial and hands with a very beautiful movement in great condition. The crown appears to be an original & they were unsigned in the 1940s.

Watch is in very good condition with the two-tone dial that's in superb condition except for some blemishes and a mark @ 4 o'clock. Upon opening the back cover, you'll be greeted with a sparkling movement and so finely finished that it'll rival the best out there today. The only heavy sign of wear is on the solid gold back cover where an owner fitted a nato style strap that caused friction marks on it as seen but that's about it. Another flaw are two tiny chips to the edge of the crystal @ 2 & 9 o'clock but not a bother. The bezel and back cover snaps tightly with general surface wear but nothing major. This watch would've been kept in a dry environment for most of it's life to maintain in such a condition.

The movement Calibre 83 was made between 1930 to 1947 with a total production of 69000 distributed among many models.

A rare opportunity & we cannot find a second example on the web yet except a steel piece in Germany with a poor dial asking for S$6500. This case design would inspire the Da Vinci of the late 1980s.
