A very fine Vacheron & Constantin Genève open face pocket watch in solid 18ct yellow gold case with a most alluring dial influenced by the house of Breguet with a pair of matching decorative hands in gold that sparkles under light. It is fitted with a very high quality and slim movement that is jeweled to the center. The manufacture of this dial requires the plate to be engraved with the signature and seconds divisions then filled with black enamel and fired in a kiln. The minute dots on the perimeter, known as Perlé is carefully machined to exact proportions then finally the Gold appliqué Arabic numerals are added to finish it off. The polished gold case has fine micro hairlines with minor shallow dents but nothing alarming and the fine engravings plus enamelling along the edge retains their crisp details. The movement works very well and balance ticks with strong vigour.

According to factory research, this watch dates to 1925, a time known as the Roar'in twenties as the world recovers from WWI. The West such as Europe and America saw rapid growth in social and arts culture, led by explorations to Asia, Africa, Amazon and Egypt that influenced Art Deco. By mid-20s, prosperity was widespread and even Germany benefited by the later of that decade known as Golden twenties. This watch has minute details of those as evidenced by the fine workmanship on the case and dial.

Vacheron & Constantin is the oldest watch manufacturer in continuing production for the last four centuries centuries starting in 1755 and our watch here dates back to 1926 so this watch is almost a century old.

This watch was there and saw it all including the devastating WW2. It is more than a Century old now and was made by the Geneva factory for the European market with a triple signed case, dial and movement.
