This IWC Engineer or Ingenieur Ref.3228-01 is the optimal 40mm model. The silvered dial has a textured surface with pink gold applique batons & Arabic nos and matching hands that adds a touch of class there.

Watch has just been polished to factory specs & presents very well. Unfortunately, the PVC boxes by IWC are notorious for disintegrating and never lasted more than a couple of years so are often discarded. Those boxes offer little value from this era and doesn't affect the value of their watches.

This watch bears close resemblance to the original Ingenieur designed by Gérald Genta that was launched in 1976, some fifty years ago and this collection is still in production today. It features five holes on the bezel, the recesses were necessary for a wrench to lock into those holes and unscrew the bezel out or locking down and bracelet has the H pattern.
