About This Watch

Vintage. No box/paper. This is known as the "Tropical Rolex" with a solid gold case & steel back that was often found in the Far Eastern market. Dial is 100% original & very nicely aged with no marks or scratches. Such dials with full the Arabic nos & a subsidiary seconds are very coveted by collectors as they can only be found in pre-1950s watches & considered highly desirable. Case is in good condition & free from dents or major scratches while the movement still shines in original glory which is a testament to the robust Oyster case that kept moisture & dust away from it. This watch has benefitted with a modern day orig. Rolex crown as the original would have been too worn to be functional. Case nos are not visible anymore & plastic crystal is fresh. This is quite a collectible timepiece & reasonably priced. These watches are very rare now & only made available due to the collector relinquishing her collection. The back cover has double reference no which is common in those days as it could be used for either model. This watch is not water & shockproof. Keep it away from water & don't ever drop or overwind it.

Consignment item. Sold "as is" without our warranty & watch has not been serviced for a decade. It works now and will benefit with a fresh service (payable) but we will not guarantee accuracy as this watch is almost 70 years old. The movement is in very good, "unmolested" condition & I would expect it to serve you well.
