About This Watch

Vintage. No box or papers & a Passions box will be given.

This Rolex Oysterdate Precision Ref.6694 is one of the best condition we've had by far. The entire watch is in mint condition with thick lugs and little signs of usage for the past 40+ years. Well, this watch has been kept in our vault for 14yrs

This is a late production piece that has received the hi-beat 21600 vph movement which offers better time keeping and indeed, it is working very well now with almost chronometer standard even at over 40yrs old. The watch is completely original except for the new acrylic crystal and sold with a valuable Oyster bracelet that's often worn out.

Prices for this model varies widely but it all points down to the condition and original parts. We will list out a few common pitfalls for this model so that you can make an educated purchase. The 6694 was an affordable entry watch for everyone who aspires to own a Rolex and often used as a daily timekeeper so most were subjected to abuse. A new piece in the 70s was only S$600+ & S$800+ by the 80s while the steel Submariner was only S$1200+ and the steel Daytona (6263/5) were barely S$2000!!

This model was often dismantled and parts exchanged or donated to higher models so many survivors today are frankensteins and don't have period correct items. The bracelet takes up to 30-50% of the entire watch's value and the heavy bracelet from post mid-70s are sought after so watch out for worn-out, rusty, cracked links or fake bracelets. Although the riveted Oyster bracelet with scallop logo buckle can be very desirable provided you can find one in tip-top condition as most are worn out.

The dial & hands. Most had re-dials, custom or fakes fitted. Thankfully, an original doesn't cost too much while those custom Mickey Mouse or Coke logos can be a novelty but don't pay >S$500 premium for them. It is acceptable to have custom dials to facelift this model as the original batons dial is boring other than the pre-70s with nicer indices and hands.

When you purchase this, you're buying the heritage and history that comes along which is very desirable for any discerning collector.
