Vintage. Comes with a Patek shipping box & the factory "Extract from the Archives" certificate stating that this watch was manufactured in 1941 and sold on February 21st 1942.

In mid 2012, this watch was returned to The Henry Stern Watch Agency Inc. in New York where it received a complete restoration work costing US$3470 including the restoration of it's dial and hands. It presents good as new now as you can see from the pictures with perhaps some old wounds that were polished but might be possible to pick up under magnification. This is a restored but she is 75years old so please pardon her.

A brand new & original alligator strap plus a modern Patek 18KPG buckle was fitted at almost S$2K then vacuum-pack sealed by the Singapore Patek service center for protection. We have just removed the watch from the packing for photography and inspection then resealed again. Watch has never been worn since acquisition in recent years.

The Henry Stern Watch Agency is the only Patek Philippe service centre owned and operated by the firm outside of Geneva so any works done by them is recognised as the factory. It occupies a massive 33,000 square feet space in the prestigious Rockefeller Centre and is the direct subsidiary of the Geneva firm. It was founded in 1942 by Henri Stern (2nd generation of the Stern family that owns Patek) who was sent to USA in 1937 to oversee the business in the North American market.

There are three simple basic rules to owning such vintage watches which is similar to a modern watch:

#1 Don't over wind or you'll break the mainspring and the watch will stop working.

#2 Don't ever let it get near water/moisture so be careful when washing hands or if you need to cross the street in rain.

#3 Don't ever drop it, as it does not have anti-shock protection for the delicate balance staff in those Pre-WWII years. Otherwise, this grand Patek Philippe can easily be handled down to many generations to come as long as you baby it and they can be worn daily. It takes 24 rounds on the crown to a full wind.

This is a very attractive rectangular watch with a highly desirable rectangular movement & presented in almost mint condition. It's a highly collectible timepiece that'll be a great conversation timepiece among your peers.

Dial signed Patek Philippe & Co., Geneve. Case, movement, strap & buckle signed. The year 2000 limited edition Ref.5101 Ten Days Tourbillon can be said to be inspired by this Ref.514 with it's curved rectangular case and stepped sides. A great honour.
