Once in a while, we will come across a vintage watch in mint condition and this is one of those. Have a look and you would be forgiven to think that this is a new watch but she was made in 1948 & housed in a 37mm solid pink gold case which was a jumbo size at that time as most men were wearing 30mm watches. This was made just 3 years after the devastating World War Two and the world was still recovering from it's horrible effect and only the most wealthy would be able to afford this watch at that time.

She is fitted with the coveted Calibre 89 which was also supplied to the military grade Mark 11 pilot watch. Dial is in mint condition and case seemingly unpolished since new with fancy flared lugs. The movement shines as new while all hallmarks and stamped numbers show crisply. An exceptional vintage not to be missed.

The IWC Calibre 89 was developed in 1946 when the company was picking up the pieces after their factory was bombed out during the War. The British War Ministry needed a new watch for their pilots with a sweep center seconds, IWC promptly responded and the rest is history. This movement was developed by Albert Pellaton, it is robust and well finished against others of it's time. Hence, many Calibre 89 IWC watches are still highly sought after by collectors today and the factory has the parts to restore it for you when necessary.

A new non-IWC 19x14mm strap is fitted. Don't miss this beauty as it would be difficult to find another replacement of this quality again.
