This watch came from an Australian who's father passed it to him and he has no children so sold it to us in the hope that someone will appreciate it better. Mr Mears, Snr was an engineer with the radar department serving the RAF during WW2 and after the war, he built all kinds of gadgets at home including a metal detector which he would spend days scanning on the beaches!

This is a typical open face pocket watch in silver and dating to 1897 with it's London hallmarks. It's a simple watch that tells time and serve most commoners in the late 19th and early 20th century. What's outstanding is the condition. There are no major dents or deep scratches and case is heavily oxidised which can be easily removed to shine again but we left the patina as it is. The beautiful engine-turned back cover remains highly visible which shows that it was never heavily used. To set time, simply use one of your finger nail to depress a pin @ 1 o'clock and turn the crown. The white enamel dial is in near flawless condition and shows no cracks nor chips which is incredible as most would've had hairline cracks over the century. Overall, a very well preserved & original example looking for a new home.
