This is a very rare & unusual wristwatch by Gérald Genta and production would be very limited especially housed in the noblest precious metal of platinum. The polished case has a classic cushion form typical of watches from the early 20th century & crown is unsigned but certainly original. There are intimate hints of hand-crafted features found on this watch such as the name and numbers are hand-engraved onto the case back rather than machined or laser etched. The skeletonised movement has both front and back of the bridges completely hand-engraved with floral pattern which is quite a treat for the eyes. The front sapphire crystal is an expensive faceted version which is a trade-mark of Gérald Genta watches from pre-2000 production. It reflects light like a cut-gem the moment the watch is handled.

We acquired this lovely watch from a Japanese collector who keeps skeleton watches and this was a prized possession as the watch is a platinum piece with a platinum buckle. The dark grey alligator strap is not original but was carefully tailored to match with grey stitches and saw little use.

This is a highly collectible timepiece for the most discerning watch collector who appreciates finer things in life and the exclusivity of handicraft. The watch may be small but this is an exquisite watch for the gentleman or lady collector and the miniature works is a challenge to produce like an artwork, unlike the oversized crude watches that we so often see.

It will be difficult to find another of this & they were very expensive watches even in it's days costing in excess of US$20K twenty years ago.
