The original Rolex Prince was introduced in the 1920s, during this Art Deco period when rectangular watches were very trendy and this was one of the most expensive watch of it's time.

It is also discovered that if they used a rectangular case rather than round, they could incorporate a larger mainspring and balance wheel then place them on opposite ends which offered a longer power reserve and a higher accuracy to achieve the ultimate chronometer standard. The oversized small seconds is also useful for medical personnel to read the pulse of a patient and hence this model was nicknamed a Doctor's watch. Rolex Prince came in two forms, the standard straight sided rectangular and the more expensive flared ''Brancard'' case that we have here.

This watch dating to 1937 has of course been polished over the decades but remains in very good condition. 90% of these have re-furbished dial and this is one of the few remaining with an original, untouched dial that remains very legible. It is finished in two-tone silver and hard enamel filled markings that lasts forever. The movement shines and keeps time and it also retains the original crown which is very rare.

1/4 Century Club watches were ordered by the Canadian retailer T Eaton Co Ltd (1869-1999) from Rolex to reward their employers for a 25yrs long service to the company. Each watch was completely manufactured by Rolex, always in 14ct gold and engraved with the recipient's name to mark their 25 years in service. This particular example has the back of the watch engraved:

A beautiful example and a highly collectible timepiece in the milestone of Rolex watches. 1/4 Century Eaton Rolexes are testament to one of the longest relationship between a watch company and client that lasted over two decades.
